In Roeselare, resistance is growing against the move of the El Nour religious community. The community wants to move to an empty factory on the corner of Koornstraat and Tramstraat, because the current location in Spinnerstraat has become too small.
40 unique objections have now been submitted against these plans, amounting to 1,245 signatures. Local residents are particularly concerned about the possible increase in traffic in the area. The city council wants to make a decision on the permit application by early February.
