12-year-old boy stabs community police officer in Peer, mother and brother also arrested | Abroad

The 41-year-old local police officer was arranging traffic on Collegelaan around 3.30 pm, when he was stabbed several times in the back by the 12-year-old boy, who lives nearby at Agneten College.

The officer sustained two stab injuries in the back and was taken to Pelt hospital. His injuries are “serious but not life-threatening”, although the man has to stay overnight in hospital for observation. He could not yet be interrogated.

Mother and two sons arrested

The teenage boy was arrested shortly after the fact, as were his mother and his 17-year-old brother. They were taken to the police station in Leopoldsburg, where they have yet to be interrogated.

The students of the Agneten College also receive support. They saw the incident from the reading room right in front of the school. The school confirms that it is a student of their school.

The mayor of Peer is shocked. He calls violence against police officers completely intolerable.
