The Kundmüller Brewery in Weiher continues its streak of success by being awarded the prestigious title of “Brewery of the Year” at the Finest Beer Selection 2026. This notable recognition, awarded for the second consecutive year, took place on June 29 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße and is considered one of the most esteemed honors in the brewing industry.
Consistency in Excellence
The Kundmüller Brewery has achieved remarkable recognition with 15 different beers making it into the Finest Beer Selection 2026. Each beer had to attain a minimum score of 90 points, assessed by an international panel composed of industry experts. This year’s results mirror their previous year’s performance, showcasing that their 2025 victory was not merely a stroke of luck but a reflection of consistent brewing excellence. Dr. Werner Gloßner, the organizer of the competition, emphasized that achieving this milestone two years in a row is a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality brewing craftsmanship.
Multiple Awards for Signature Beers
Among the standout beers from Kundmüller, the Weiherer Doppelbock Holzfassgelagert Rum claimed the highest score with 96 out of 100 points, categorizing it as one of the top-rated beers in the competition. Other remarkable contenders included the Rauchbock, brewed in collaboration with another brewery, which received a commendable score of 95 points. Traditional Franconian styles like Kellerbier, Landbier Hell, and various Bock beers were also spotlighted, further showcasing the brewery’s diverse and high-quality product range.
Oswald Kundmüller, the brewery’s managing director, expressed his excitement, stating, “Last year we celebrated not expecting to win; this year we celebrate proving it was not a fluke.” His brother, Roland Kundmüller, the master brewer, shared his delight regarding the high rating of the barrel-aged Doppelbock, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding its unique brewing process.

The Finest Beer Selection is hosted by the Meininger Verlag alongside the Doemens Academy. In this year’s event, a staggering 843 beers from 122 breweries worldwide were entered. Only the top 285 beers, as determined by blind tastings from a panel of 50 beer experts, could secure recognition. Points were awarded based on a 100-point system, and only beers scoring at least 90 points were included in the prestigious selection.
