112 news: resident inhales smoke in house fire • delivery van catches fire

The 19-year-old man who robbed a gas station on Groenewoudlaan in Waalwijk yesterday could be arrested quickly because a local police officer recognized him. The robbery happened around 3 a.m., when a gas station employee was stocking the store shelves. The robber walked in with a knife and shouted that he wanted money. But the employee quickly walked to the secure area at the checkout and was able to close the door just in time. He called 112, after which the police distributed photos of the robber who had fled.

A local police officer in Waalwijk saw the photos and recognized the man, because he is a resident of the neighborhood where he works. He rang the man’s doorbell and saw that he was indeed wearing the same clothes as the robber in the photo. The man could then be arrested.
