An accident occurred this evening at the intersection of Geldropseweg and Sint Petrus Canisiuslaan in Eindhoven, involving two cars and a van. The van collided with a car at the intersection. In the process, the bus lost a ladder that was tied to the roof. This forced another car to swerve and crashed into a tree.
Several ambulances and fire trucks came to the scene of the accident. One of the drivers was freed from her car by the fire brigade. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the van put up a lot of resistance when the emergency services tried to give him first aid. The man was restrained on the ground by officers. He was then rushed to hospital. He was arrested there and the police are investigating whether he was under the influence.
The accident attracted a lot of attention. The intersection was therefore cordoned off by the police. Witnesses reported seeing the van driving at high speed. This would also have been reported to the police.
