NS employees in the Northern Netherlands have been on strike since four o’clock this morning. The strike will last 24 hours. Just like in other parts of the country where there is no strike, the NS expects to be able to run the usual timetable as much as possible in our province. However, the rail company cannot rule out “unexpected inconvenience” for travelers in the rest of the country, the company said.

In the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and parts of Flevoland and Overijssel, virtually no trains will run all day as a result of the strike. The advice to travelers from, to and within these provinces is therefore to choose alternative transport or to postpone their journey. The unions hope that the actions will force a better collective bargaining agreement. Before August 31, the unions have announced actions in our province, among others.
