A 36-year-old man from Poppel, Belgium, was arrested last night on Langestraat in Tilburg for driving under the influence of alcohol. At the station it turned out that he had drunk 3.5 times the legal limit. At the time the man made the mistake, his eight-year-old daughter was home alone. She was picked up by her grandfather while her father was put in jail.

Officers saw the man driving at high speed on Spoorlaan in the city around a quarter past one. They gave him a stop sign to which the man responded. He appeared to have been drinking. According to the police, he reacted aggressively and insulted the officers who wanted to check him. He called them ‘suckers’ and ‘mongols’, among other things.

It was not the first time that the man was behind the wheel with alcohol. It also appeared at the office that his driver’s license had already been declared invalid in 2014. Police call the man a frequent offender. An official report has been drawn up against him for driving under the influence, driving without a driver’s license and insulting an official in office.
