As a coach of the 1st FC Nürnberg, Miroslav Klose is also responsible for young talents like Stefanos Tzimas. At “Blickpunkt Sport”, the 2014 world champion reveals his philosophy and gives insights into his work with the club-yourstern.

Since June 2024, Miroslav Klose has been a trainer at the 1st FC Nürnberg – and therefore also jewel grinder. The FCN as a training association is becoming more and more a name as a home for top talents. Formed club jewels like Can Uzun (now at Eintracht Frankfurt) or Finn Jeltsch (now at VfB Stuttgart) mixed with the Franconian traditional club last season.

Klose fits into his role as a club coach, precisely because he develops young players, he promotes the talent, gives them their minute of play: “Young or old does not exist with me, there is good or less good,” said Klose on Sunday evening at “Blickpunkt Sport” on BR television.

Klose about Stefanos Tzimas: “Had to from comfort zone”

Klose philosophy is also evident in the Greek talent of Stefanos Tzimas, which had come to the club about a year ago. How do you work with a young player like Tzimas? “I’m trying to read the players with my coaching team,” said Klose at “Blickpunkt Sport”.

He has the youngsters train with the team for two weeks, analyzes videos, he scans the player, defines strengths and weaknesses. The 19-year-old Tzimas quickly turned out: “If dynamics come into play, he was still unclean.” In order to grind the Club jewel Tzimas, Klose’s coaching team had to lure the Greeks out of his comfort zone – and the tactics seem to work: “If you see that he has taken such a development in such a short time, it shows how well we do it as a team of coaches.” Eleven goals, two templates in 21 games – Tzimas immediately hit, is by far the most dangerous striker from the FCN.

Tzima’s move to Brighton: “Will continue to improve”

Talents like Tzimas then often take the next (development) steps to other clubs. The Greek, for example, moves to Brighton & Hove Albion to the Premier League in summer. A decision that the 2014 world champion can understand: “We spoke. I know where to go. Fabian Hürzeler will continue to improve him that he will be a really good player.” In any case, he has the potential for this – also “character”, as Klose says: “He absolutely wants it”.

The past few weeks have also shown that the meticulous work of Klose is fruitful – not only in individual cases – but also in terms of team performance: four victories in series – Only with the defeat against Hannover 96 The FCN’s climbing tour ended on Saturday. With the annoying but deserved 1: 2 (1: 1) in the home game against a clever Hannover 96 in the Max Morlock Stadium, Klose’s team left a chance in the promotion race that had not yet been written off. With a bit of a distance, Klose said on Sunday evening: “We weren’t as good with the ball as we already played”. Hanover would have “bought the cutting” to his players. She “intimidated” the physical.

Young team also has to Performance fluctuations be clear

A defeat like this can get to Klose with his young team: the former striker knows that the achievements of inexperienced players are subject to fluctuations. The team still has to find themselves and get in: “There is no time for things to establish themselves and of course it becomes,” said Klose at “Blickpunkt Sport”.

For the upcoming games and the development of the team, Klose hopes entirely in a record striker manner, “that we are looking for the direct path to the goal – but still make decisions”.

View of the Academy of 1st FC Nürnberg: “Something comes after”

But the 46-year-old is confident. His optimism is also nourished by the academy: “We have so many fantastic players,” said Klose, who did not want to name any specific names. “Something really comes up”.

As for the near future: In order to intervene again to the promotion race, the “club” will have to score in the next two games against Prussia Münster and SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
