The 1. FC Magdeburg has extended the contract of offensive player Baris Atik prematurely. The 30-year-old, who has been wearing the FCM jersey since January 2021, was recently associated with a possible switch to Hannover 96 and ex-coach Christian Titz. With 48 goals and 55 templates in 143 games, ATIK is one of the best scorers in the Magdeburg club history.
“The FCM is my heart’s club. This connection is something very special. I celebrated sensational success with the club, we wrote history together. In addition, I feel extremely comfortable in Magdeburg and would like to experience further, special moments with the team and the passionate fans,” ATIK explained his future decision.
Sports director Otmar Schork added: “We are very happy about the early contract extension of Baris. He is an absolute leader, top performer and pillar of our team. He is a real figure of identification for the club and our fans. He has significantly shaped the sporting development of the past four and a half years through his achievements and goals.”
