1. FC Köln – Miserable grades after defeat against Werder Bremen

1. FC Köln had a weak day against SV Werder Bremen at an inopportune time. The 0:1 (0:0) is deserved, FC never finds its way into the game.

A mistake by Marvin Schwäbe cost 1. FC Köln at least one point against Werder Bremen. But the billy goats were once again far too harmless offensively and disappointed across the board in terms of play. The t-online individual review:

The man of the match in a negative sense: Dipped under the Weiser cross so that Njinmah only had to hold out his foot. All other balls were largely harmless, but Schwäbe made a mistake in the decisive scene.

The right-back could neither keep his side close nor make any impact forward. Even when the score was 0-1, he wasn’t up to speed and ultimately came too late against the goalscorer.

Kilian played again, this time for Chabot. Actually played a solid game, saved twice in the first half. However, the build-up game is unimaginative and flawed.

Like Kilian, Hübers actually did very little wrong defensively. He kept looking for a way forward, but also because he couldn’t think of anything to do with the ball. Most ball contacts on the field, but only a few ideas.

This time the shooting star didn’t play flawlessly defensively and made a few mistakes on the ball. He repeatedly tried to move forward from the left, but was rarely successful. Couldn’t prevent Weiser’s cross to make it 0-1.

Martel was particularly noticeable in the first half with two fouls in front of his own penalty area. Had the chance to shoot on the move after the break. Struggled to close his center and win the important duels.

Huseinbasic was a little more conspicuous and offensive than Martel and tried to at least find opening solutions in difficult situations. That didn’t always work and he also made a lot of mistakes. But at least he tried.

Maina replaced Alidou in the starting line-up, but was rarely able to assert himself with his pace. Was weak in the tackle and posed virtually no danger until he once ran a ball over to the left and let Zetterer run into space. However, his pass into the center found no takers.

Ljubicic was the unlucky one on offense, his duel with Weiser sent the ball towards the goal before Friedl saved on the line. Efforts are made beyond that, but too rarely with clear actions. Neither in the center nor on the wings with the necessary assertiveness.

Kainz started on the left side, but was once again disappointing in terms of play. Almost never found his teammates in the final third, was barely able to assert himself and had to leave the field after just over an hour.

If there’s one thing you can’t accuse Thielmann of, it’s his fighting spirit. Won the most duels of all players on the field, always worked back, even back as a right-back in the final phase. But as a striker he was far too harmless and only had one notable finish (33′).

Justin Diehl (from the 67th)

Diehl came for Kainz and showed the established forces. He repeatedly moved courageously into the middle and had the most shots on goal of all FC players in his short playing time. But he had no luck and had to pay more lessons in a few duels.

Sargis Adamyan (from the 74th)

Adamyan came on for Maina, looked for a shot once, but was unable to have much influence on the FC offensive beyond that.

Jacob Christensen (from the 74th)

Christensen came in for Martel and, as a strong kicker, was supposed to provide more ball control. That failed, Christensen made a lot of mistakes and couldn’t take control of the game.
