1. FC Köln is about to sign central defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (20). At the same time, the club has to worry about the whereabouts of winger Jakub Kaminski (24), for whom the purchase option has just been drawn. First, the “Express” and “Kicker” reported on an impending execution for Simpson-Pusey. According to Sky, negotiations with Manchester City have now been successfully concluded. A new medical check is not necessary.

The defensive talent is coming to Cologne permanently from the Skyblues for a fee of 5 million euros. The cathedral townspeople succeeded in reducing the amount of the originally agreed purchase option – 8 million euros. Simpson-Pusey is set to sign a long-term contract with 1. FC Köln until 2030. The English youth international is tied to Man City until 2027.

The Bundesliga 14th Simpson-Pusey was loaned out in the winter after he played temporarily for Celtic Glasgow in the first half of the season, but only made two competitive appearances, one of them in the second team. Eleven games lasting 864 minutes followed in Cologne by the end of the season. Simpson-Pusey increased its market value in two steps from 4 million to 9 million euros.

“The move to Cologne is a new start for me that I’m really looking forward to,” said Simpson-Pusey about his transfer to Germany at the beginning of January. “When I looked into FC and its history, I wanted to get started straight away. Now I’m looking forward to getting to know my teammates – and Hennes when we’re back in Cologne. I want to play as many games as possible here and help FC achieve its goals this season.”

Kaminski dreams of Premier League: “Best league in the world”

Meanwhile, Kaminski indicated that he would not be able to stay in Cologne for long after signing from Wolfsburg on June 3rd. The Cologne team had the Pole’s services cost 5.5 million euros, but for a good four times that amount there is a risk of a quick farewell. Kaminski’s path may lead to the Premier League, with Brighton & Hove Albion being considered a possible buyer.

The right-footer told “KanalSportowy” about his future: “It depends on what options there are, whether I’m happy with it and whether it’s a step forward for me. Which position, in which system… At the moment I’m a player at Cologne, I still have four years left on my contract. When the chance arises to take a step forward, it’s natural that every footballer wants to take this step. Sometimes such opportunities only come once in a lifetime.” Kaminski’s goal is England, as he further revealed: “My dream was always to play in the Bundesliga, but after 104 games and four seasons, my next dream is the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world, I would like to prove myself there and measure my strengths.”

The offensive player collected twelve scorer points in the past Bundesliga season. Statistically, this is by far the best season since his €10 million transfer from Lech Posen to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2022. Things went less smoothly for Kaminski there; he needed three seasons at VfL to achieve the same number of goals. The market value of the 30-time national player fell from 10 million to 5 million euros before he went to FC. In the cathedral city, Kaminski found his old form and increased his market value to his career high of 17 million euros. He was not only the long-running favorite among Cologne’s outfield players, but also among the entire Bundesliga attackers.

After “Kicker” information An interested party would have to put a little more than 20 million euros on the table in order to get rid of Kaminski. A sum that would make him Cologne’s second most expensive departure behind Anthony Modeste (29 million euros) and that only wealthy clubs from the Premier League, for example, would invest. In addition to the Wolfsburg player – and presumably Simpson-Pusey – FC has also signed Tom Krauß (24, Mainz) on loan.
