Bitter news for 1. FC Köln: Luca Kilian suffered another cruciate ligament injury in the second game after his comeback. The 25-year-old central defender was substituted shortly before half-time due to an injury in the Cologne U21 duel against Eintracht Hohkeppel (2-0) in the Regionalliga West on Saturday. Kilian is scheduled to undergo surgery at the beginning of next week.
“We are extremely sorry for Luca. He worked very hard for his comeback. Coping with such a setback is not easy. But Luca has our full support – the entire FC family will be there for him and support him as best as possible on his way back,” said sports director Christian Keller. Kilian tore his cruciate ligament last March and returned to the pitch at the end of November. His contract expires at the end of the season.
