007 must not retire! James Bond series extended to 2037

Can there be a world without James Bond? Since the early 1960s, the film series based on the books by Ian Fleming has been one of the great constants in the Hollywood business. Finally, Daniel Craig hung the fine thread back in the closet. A successor is being sought, but has not yet (officially) been found.

Another question is how long the franchise will be around. Isn’t 007 a character that has long been overtaken by the zeitgeist? Understandably, producer Barbara Broccoli sees things differently. And together with her colleagues, according to an anonymous source, negotiated another contract for James Bond with the Warner film studio, which ensures the existence of the secret service agent on the big screen until 2037. This is what the British “Mirror” reported on Monday.

70 years in the service of Her Majesty

That means in concrete terms: 15 more years of Bond! The film series would then be exactly three quarters of a century old (“James Bond – 007 chases Dr. No” started in cinemas in 1962, Sean Connery gave the first Bond).

However, the new contract has not yet been officially confirmed. This may coincide with the announcement of a new 007. There have recently been numerous candidates. One of the hottest, “Luther” star Idris Elba, but just canceled. Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page and Chris “Thor” Hemsworth are also said to be in the running. Another Marvel hero is also under discussion.
