Zwickau waives objection after “beer scandal”

After the beer scandal in the third division duel with Rot-Weiss Essen, FSV Zwickau accepted the decision of the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) on the game rating and did not lodge an appeal. The DFB announced this on Wednesday.

The match was stopped by referee Nicolas Winter on April 23 when the score was 1-1 after a Zwickau spectator threw beer in his face when he went into the dressing room. The sports court scored the game 2-0 for Essen.

According to the DFB, the sports court will decide on further sanctions against Zwickau because of the incident at a later date.
