Seventh defeat in a row
Next bankruptcy: Zverev beaten again by fearful opponents

Germany’s best tennis player has no chance against Taylor Fritz – again. In return he can console himself with lavish prize money.
Alexander Zverev still has no chance against Taylor Fritz. At the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia, the Hamburg player was once again clearly defeated by the American in the quarterfinals – the result was 3:6, 4:6 after just 59 minutes of playing time on the indoor hard court in Riyadh.
It was Zverev’s seventh defeat in a row against Fritz. Despite the disappointing performance, the world number three can console himself with an initial fee of 1.5 million US dollars. The end also has no impact on his ATP ranking: the tournament is not part of the players’ organization’s official calendar.
Both players visibly had difficulty with the conditions in the hall – the high bouncing balls in particular caused problems. Zverev, who had already shown poor performances in recent weeks, was once again not at his best. A solid performance was enough for Fritz to win safely against the German, who seemed listless at times.
The Six Kings Slam is taking place for the second time and offers high prize money. Although no world ranking points are awarded, numerous top players take part – including last year’s winner Jannik Sinner. The Italian will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second quarter-final on Wednesday evening. Novak Djoković and Carlos Alcaraz are already in the semifinals, and the final will feature prize money of $4.5 million.
