The footballers from Eintracht Frankfurt have secured their ticket for the newly created European Cup.

After the 4-0 (2-0) in the first leg, coach Niko Arnautis’ team won the second leg of the qualification against 1. FC Slovacko 1-0 (1-0). The SGE is now in the round of 16. It is still unclear who it will be against in November.

Given the reassuring cushion from the first leg, coach Arnautis rotated vigorously. The 45-year-old changed nine positions compared to the 2-3 defeat against SC Freiburg at the weekend. In addition to Laura Freigang, only Amanda Ilestedt remained in the starting line-up. Shortly before the break, the central defender scored the only goal (45th + 1).

The newly created competition will be played in a different, more traditional format than the premier class. There is no league phase; all rounds, including the final, take place in a knockout system with a return leg.

After the round of 16 in November, the quarter-finals will be played in February. In qualifying for the Champions League, Eintracht clearly failed against Real Madrid.
