Both teams started the game quickly. Westerlo striker Nacho Ferri headed wide, Opoku put the goalkeeper to work a few seconds later. Waregem took the most initiative and also created the biggest chances in the opening quarter. Ementa came almost alone for Jungdal, but placed the ball on the wrong side of the post. Essevee then got the worst of it: the strong header Ferri gave the visitors the lead.
After the break, Waregem had to look for good opportunities until the very end. Essevee started looking for the equalizer more and more and became more threatening. Ementa had another great chance, but missed again. Substitute Jelle Vossen was also unable to get the ball past a strong Jungdal.
Waregem drops to 11th place for the time being with 26 points.
