First you are in a long line outside, once in the store you have ten minutes to grab bins between hundreds of lost packages. Feel, shake and take the gamble. Full of expectation you leave the store afterwards. What would be in it? Unpack! Indebuurt visits the temporary package shop in the Stadshart.

King Colis has a pop-up store with lost packages in the Stadshart for a week. Here you can buy a package from which the content is unknown. It is actually a kind of gambling shop and we speak to various people who spend hundreds of euros at the cash register without knowing what they get back for that.

Package evening in January

Just like most people we speak, Friends Tobias and Anthony only unpack their purchased packages at home. They like to take a chance and came to the store in Zoetermeer. “We don’t expect anything but hope for something beautiful,” says Anthony. “Our friends asked if we also want to buy something for them. Tonight we come together and then we will keep a kind of package evening. “

‘I am happy with it’

Two ladies are outside with three well -filled bags. One of the two can’t wait and opens a package: it’s a mobile phone. “No idea of which brand but I am happy with it,” she says.

Moments later, girlfriends Ishika and Astha leave the store with two heavy bags. “We bought something for ourselves and for my mother, we lost around 130 euros,” says Ishika. For indebuurt Zoetermeer they want to unpack one package, the rest they do together at home.

‘Always wanted to have’

In the trunk, in the parking garage behind the Stadshart, Astha pulls the white plastic apart around one of her packages purchased. With her car key she cuts the tape and opens the square box. A display with different buttons appears and Astha is pleasantly surprised: “It is an incubator for eggs. I’ve always wanted to have that for the degradation of quadries. “

Full of expectations our hearts

Nadir works as an event manager for King Colis and he helps in the Zoetermeer pop-up store. “The best thing about the store is the tension that the purchase of a package entails. I am also very curious about the content, but I often don’t know it. Sometimes people come back to share their find. Since I work here I have seen two Rolexen pass by. “

Of course, Indebuurt Zoetermeer puts it to the test and we also unpack a package ourselves. A sales employee gives advice. With blue plastic gloves it feels on the package. “It feels cold and the cardboard is sturdy. There is no extra plastic around the inside. I think you made a good choice. ” Full of expectation we tear open the envelope and box. Unfortunately no brand new cell phone, but a few red candle holders with a reindeer. The bill? 9.55 euros.
