“Worst team in the country”
Ex-Bayern professional is booed – and leaves crying

The crisis at Manchester United is becoming more and more serious. The team suffered their next defeat against Newcastle United. The game was particularly bitter for a former Bayern player.
Even under Rúben Amorim, Manchester United just can’t get the hang of things. The English record champions lost 2-0 at home to Old Trafford against Newcastle United. Manchester has lost five of its last league games. United are only 14th in the table.
The 2-0 loss against Newcastle was particularly bitter for Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch striker had to leave the field in the 33rd minute. The former Bayern player (2017 to 2022) was neither injured nor in danger of being sent off. Coach Rúben Amorim simply wanted to change tactics – Zirkzee fell victim to this.
The 23-year-old came off for Kobbie Mainoo, which was celebrated by fans. He also had to listen to some boos. Zirkzee, who only moved to the “Red Devils” in the summer for 42.5 million euros, put on a jacket and then fled to the dressing room. Sky reporter Raphael Honigstein reported that the young Dutchman had to be taken out of the cabin while crying.
Former player Gary Neville felt for Zirkzee on English TV: “I really feel sorry for him. Sure, he was very expensive, but he’s also a human being. He didn’t play well, but that applies to all players.” The club legend continued: “In terms of price-performance ratio, we see the worst team in the country here.”
The portal “transfermarkt.de” estimates United’s squad value at just under 800 million euros. Manchester has invested this amount in the squad in the last four years alone. However, the many expensive new additions hardly brought any sporting success.
And now the team of the hour is waiting for United. Liverpool FC will welcome Amorim’s team to the derby at Anfield on January 5th. A very unfortunate time for the troubled “Red Devils”.
