After 24 years at OL

At 34 years old, Anthony Lopes is still in the mood for something new. After 24 years at Olympique Lyon, the goalkeeping legend is joining Gones league rivals FC Nantes.

At his training club, the Portuguese was between the posts 489 times in 13 years as a professional. In the club’s history, he is fifth among all players who have ever played for OL. Only two Lyon keepers are listed in the TM database with more appearances than Lopes. The reason why he doesn’t make it to second place is because the veteran hasn’t been able to play yet this season. The 27-year-old Lucas Perri (20 appearances) and the 28-year-old Rémy Descamps (2) have been called up in the previous games. Lopes’ contract has been terminated, allowing a free transfer to Nantes for the substitute keeper in Portugal’s 2016 European Championship triumph.
