Zinédine Zidane announces imminent coaching comeback

There is a lot of speculation about the Frenchman’s future. A successor to Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern is also considered possible. Now the ex-Real coach has spoken out.

Zinédine Zidane is keeping the football world busy. The former Real Madrid player, who was coach there from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021, wants to return to the sidelines. The former world and European champion announced this on Sky Sport Italia.

He tells the TV station: “At the moment I’m doing other things, we’ll see, but I’m sure I’ll be on the bench again. I’d like to do that.” So would FC Bayern Munich also be conceivable?

Zidane has been linked to various clubs

The Frenchman did not comment on this. The three-time world footballer has been considered a possible successor to Thomas Tuchel for several days. Zidane also kept to himself when he would like to work as a coach again.

Asked whether he would soon make his comeback as coach in Italy, Zidane said: “Why not? Anything can happen.” Zidane last coached Real Madrid until 2021. He celebrated great success as a coach with Real, including winning the Champions League three times, the Spanish championship twice and the cup twice with the Royals.

Since then there has been constant speculation about a coaching comeback at various clubs. For example, at the English Premier League club FC Chelsea, at his former club Juventus Turin or as a French national coach.
