KYIV (dpa-AFX) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has praised the US attack on Venezuela and the arrest of deposed head of state Nicolás Maduro as a groundbreaking way of dealing with “dictators”. “If you can deal with dictators like that, then the United States of America knows what to do next,” Zelenskyy told journalists in Kiev, according to Ukrainian media.
Accordingly, the context of the statement suggested that Zelensky was the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin had an eye on him without mentioning him by name. At a press conference with US President Donald Trump in Florida, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the operation against Maduro was a warning to others in the world that America should be taken seriously.
Zelensky wants British and French soldiers in Ukraine
Zelensky has repeatedly called Putin a dictator and does not consider him a legitimate head of state. He commented on the situation in Putin’s war against Ukraine after further negotiations in Kiev, during which national security advisers discussed future protection for Ukraine. Zelenskyj announced further talks.
The President once again called for solid security guarantees from the USA and European countries, which should protect Ukraine from future Russian attacks after the end of the war. This clearly means that “in any case” at least French and British troops would be stationed in Ukraine, Zelensky said. Russia, which is not involved in the talks, repeatedly warns against stationing soldiers from NATO countries in Ukraine. A peace agreement is still not in sight./mau/DP/he
