A formative face of ZDF says goodbye after four decades. Norbert Lehmann says goodbye to his reliable post in the broadcaster.

Exactly 40 years ago, Norbert Lehmann came to ZDF and started in the state studio in Düsseldorf. He took over various posts and then also moderated the “ZDF afternoon magazine”. Most recently, he was editor-in-chief of “Sport average” in the ZDF capital editorial team and presented the sport at the “Today” messages. And that’s exactly where the 65-year-old had his last show on Monday evening.

After he presented the sport, Lehmann said to the audience: “That was about sport and that was it too. Last moderation, last working day in ZDF after 40 great years. I have done.”

With the last sentence, the moderator alluded to the legendary press conference from 1998 by the then Bayern coach Giovanni Trapattoni. He was annoyed by the performance of his players. So it came to the sentence that history wrote.

In addition to Lehmann, his colleague Mitri Sirin also had their say. She honored the moderator: “Yes, this is a very special sports block. Dear Norbert, 40 years, you have worked in various positions, in front of and behind the camera, also in managerial positions. Quasi a ZDF institution. Dortmund will spend. “

Lehmann, who was born in Dortmund and studied in Münster, concluded with the words: “Thank you, Mitri. Thank you very much and thank you for watching, make it good. Stay healthy and cheerful. Happiness, as you say in Dortmund.” According to ZDF, Lehmann lives in Heidelberg.
