Zayn Malik has canceled his upcoming US tour. The singer announced the decision on Friday – two weeks after his hospital stay for an as yet undisclosed reason.
The American leg of Malik’s Konnakol tour was scheduled to begin July 12; Before that, the singer had planned performances in Europe and Mexico in the next two months. Some of those shows are going ahead as planned, but Malik announced on social media Friday that his summer and fall U.S. arena dates will be canceled entirely.
“To my fans: Thank you for all the support and love you showed me during the album release, and more importantly – for your love, prayers and good wishes for my health. I felt this and it meant everything to me. I am recovering at home and doing well – I will be stronger and fitter than before,” Malik wrote in an Instagram Story.
Malik cuts tour schedule
“I’ve had to rethink my schedule for the coming months and reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour. I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as possible. I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you and hope to meet the rest of you somewhere in the world soon. Big Love, Z”
According to the new tour schedule, Malik will still make some of his previously announced international dates throughout the year – however, both legs of his US tour, in June/July and November, have been completely canceled. Ticket buyers will receive their money back. The remaining dates can be viewed on Malik’s tour page.
The changes come just weeks after Malik made it public that he was in hospital – without specifying the exact reason. The health update came on the very day he released his fifth solo album “Konnakol”. The plan was to celebrate the release with several appearances in record stores on the East Coast – but these dates were also canceled.
