Zandvoort expects another 105,000 Formula 1 fans

Zandvoort expects 105,000 visitors on Sunday on the day that the Grand Prix of the Netherlands is held on the circuit. The NS also deploys twelve trains per hour on Sundays from 8.00 am to transport fans from Haarlem and Amsterdam to Zandvoort and vice versa. This means a train every 5 minutes, as was the case throughout the Formula 1 weekend.

Zandvoort received about 95,000 race fans during the free practice sessions on Friday. On Saturday, more than 105,000 people were present during qualifying, where Max Verstappen took pole position for the second year in a row. It gets so busy again on Sunday.

The NS can bring 10,000 travelers per hour to Zandvoort aan Zee. More than three hundred extra NS employees are working for this and the trains are running with the maximum length.

The organization of the Dutch Grand Prix has called on visitors to leave torches and other fireworks at home on Sunday. On Saturday, a man threw a smoke pot on the track during qualifying for the Formula 1 race in Zandvoort. The man from the municipality of Borne was arrested and released during the evening. He remains a suspect, his case will be heard later.
