The Berlin online fashion retailer Zalando SE has completed the first quarter of the 2025 financial year with solid sales plus and significantly improved its result.

In the period from January to March, the corporate turnover was 2.42 billion euros, which corresponded to an increase of 7.9 percent compared to the previous year. The gross -like volume (GMV) grew by 6.5 percent to just under 3.50 billion euros.

The quarterly profit is 9.9 million euros

The result adjusted for special effects before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached an altitude of 46.7 million euros and thus exceeded the corresponding level of previous year of EUR 28.3 million by 65.2 percent. The bottom line was that a net profit of 9.9 million euros had to record a loss of 8.9 million euros in the previous year.

Co-CEO David Schröder was satisfied with the current results: “We are making great progress in the implementation of our ecosystem strategy. Our expanded offers come up with our customers: inside and partners,” he said in a statement. “The growth in the B2C area was driven in particular through a successful season sales and a promising start to the spring/summer season-also supported by continuous rolling out of our further developed bonus program Plus and a new high at the number of our active customers: inside.”

In the B2B area, Zalando “continues to be two-digit growth rates” and further expand its ZEO logistics offer, says Schröder. The focus in the current year is “especially on logistics and software solutions”.

Management confirms the annual forecasts

The online retailer also confirmed his annual forecasts. For 2025, he is still “despite a rapidly changing geopolitical and macro wiring environment” with growth in sales and GMV by four to nine percent each.
