“I have nothing left. No house. No school. No contact with family and friends. No personal items. We had to choose between two suicide missions: stay or flee. We chose the latter.” Her words go to the marrow and bone. Only four days ago, 17-year-old Yulia Karpenko was able to escape the horror in Mariupol. She took shelter in the Drama Theater. It was bombed a day after she left. “Death is everywhere in the city,” she says emotionally.
