Paul Richards, husband of Jo Oliver, also explains how the image fits into her artistic work: “As a teacher for many years she has written and told many stories to children of all ages. She has written ten stories set on her estate, and our friend ‘The Hauntings’ appears in many stories.”

According to Katrien Desomer, mayor of Ypres, the inauguration is special because this is the last time the statue can be seen on the mainland. “After December 7, it will be moved to the artists’ garden and remain there permanently. It is the last time the public can view this statue.”

On Jo and Paul’s estate in Somerset The Hauntings a place among dozens of other images, each telling their own story.
