“On Saturday evening around half past six, a man under the influence of drugs caused destruction on the skating rink in Ypres. He smashed the glass with his fist and then challenged everyone. It was at that moment that he also pulled a knife,” says Ypres councilor Peter De Groote.
There was also a fight the weekend before in which a shard of glass was used. “We also had major problems on Friday night with young people hanging around who challenged the police and argued. They also pulled out the Christmas tree and dragged it to the station. These costs amounted to 10,000 euros.”
