Young people are using ‘moi’ and ‘houdo’ again: TikTok unexpectedly turns out to be the salvation of the dialect

For years it was doom and gloom with the Dutch dialects. Older generations feared its extinction. But then help came from an unexpected source: social media. And now there is a revival among young people, says linguist Kristel Doreleijers of the Meertens Institute. She is working on the first Atlas of the dialect.
