A man urinated on the facade of fashion store Chaos Jeans in Veldhoven on Friday evening. The man also pressed the store’s intercom button to communicate what he was doing. The store’s employees say it’s a shame. Yet this is not the first Brabander in dire need to relieve himself in a remarkable place. We list a few of them.
Last May, residents on Plataanstraat in Breda did not know what they were seeing when a man pooped in the middle of the sidewalk on an ordinary Sunday afternoon. Resident Desiree’s 11-year-old son was home alone when he saw a man pulling down his pants through the video doorbell. Only when the man was approached by a passerby did he pull up his pants and quickly walk away. The big message was left behind. “That turd is stuck well. I can’t get it away. Hopefully he will walk by again soon. He can clean it up himself,” Desiree said at the time.

Last year there was also trouble at Burchtplein in Oss for a long time. Rien den Brok lived above the Albert Heijn and, like his neighbors, he was bothered by people urinating and defecating in public and people sleeping in front of the apartment complex. Several photos that Rien and his neighbors collected showed evidence. “Here, two people peeing. In this other photo you see three. And I find this one very dirty,” he said last year, about a photo showing poop with toilet paper. BrabantWonen, the owner of the complex, has raised the problems with the police, municipality and housing association.

Helmond Dave Hakkens almost wet himself in June 2014 when he looked out the window of his office on Marktstraat. There stood a desperate gentleman who had to run a very big errand. Hakkens felt bad about it and took a photo, which he then shared on Twitter (now X) with his tens of thousands of followers. “He doesn’t give a shit,” he wrote.

A woman in dire need had a great time last September in a garden center in Roosendaal. When she couldn’t use the toilet, she grabbed a bucket, put it next to the cash register, urinated in it and then dumped the contents on the floor. According to the owner of the store, the toilets were clogged and he had to tell all his customers no. He, like other customers and employees, watched in disbelief. The owner decided to post the video on Facebook. “If they want attention, they can get it,” he said at the time.

The interest group the Toilet Alliance also took a piss on it. They understood the woman’s frustration and see these types of reports more often. “You often see that there are toilets, but that they are locked or not working,” the spokesperson said last year. “The entrepreneur often thinks: ‘Yes, that’s a problem’, while it is very annoying for people who count on a toilet that is not there.”
