“After last season’s championship, this will be a new adventure,” says Allard van Heemstra at the start of a Kakelvers season. Laren relegated a year and a half ago and after one year in the promotion class, the Gooise Club returns to the highest level. “I believe we can surprise, but we will undoubtedly lose more often than last season. That is an interesting challenge for me.”
Argentinian enclave
The relegation of 2024 ensured that Laren said goodbye to the Argentinian enclave. In that hockey year, Lucas Rey stood in front of the group and three countrymen were part of the disappointing season. Van Heemstra: “Such boys provide certain expectations, so that they were prominent in the team. Plus they regularly spoke to each other that the rest could not always follow. After their departure, the dynamics have changed within the selection.”
