Walking with a story: Discover the Vestingpad

Fancy a walking route with some extras? Then the route is Fortress path From Alltrails a must. The Vestingpad is located exactly on the border with the surrounding municipalities of Benthuizen and Zoeterwoude. It is also largely parallel to the Oude Slootweg, a historic connecting route where you can almost smell the past.

From the Vestingpad you have a beautiful view over the Noordhoven lake, with the glittering Zoetermeerse Plas behind it. If you look carefully, you spot the special, truncated water mills from Palenstein – once indispensable for keeping the polder dry. The route also winds around the Benthuizerplas, with something beautiful from nature at every turn to enjoy.
