Huub Stapel created an icy atmosphere at Op1’s talk show table last night. The actor decided to attack former VVD politician Cora van Nieuwenhuizen.
Cora van Nieuwenhuizen resigned as minister last year to start as chair of Energy Netherlands. In that capacity, she sat at the table at Op1 yesterday. At the start of the broadcast she was attacked out of nowhere by Huub Stapel. “If you earn a lot more with less work, that is of course a good puller, isn’t it?” he sneered.
Attack by Huub
Host Jort Kelder somewhat squeamish: “I have no idea what she earns now.”
Cora: “Well, I think I’m just… I don’t work that many hours anymore. It is mainly the…”
Hub: “Exactly. It’s 2.5 to 2.5, so you work 2.5 days and talk about 2.5 tons. Then you can’t complain, can you?”
Cora: “Well, I think it’s a bit crazy to talk about salaries here.’
Huub: “No, I can’t complain either, but…’
Cora: “I thought so too.”
“Do you begrudge her?”
Jort does not know how to place Huub’s attack well. “Do you begrudge her? What is going on?”
Cora: “In practice I also work a lot more than 2.5 days a week.”
Jort: “Do you want her to take redundancy pay?”
Huub: “No, but run away from the Chamber a bit… Whenever I see Mrs. I remember that moment when the VVD ran away from the Chamber when a minimum salary increase for nursing was voted on.”
Cora: “What does that have to do with me?”
Huub: “Then she ran away. And now madam is going because she can earn more money from the Chamber. Yes, that makes my mind stop.”
“That’s really nonsense!”
Cora reacts bewildered. “That’s really nonsense. The cabinet had been out of commission for a long time. There was talk that it would take another three weeks before a cabinet would be formed. I thought it would be the right thing to do to ensure that I had another job and that you would not end up on redundancy pay for long.”
She continues: “I have worked for the good cause for four years, held politically responsible positions for 27 years continuously, so I think this is really nonsense. I really took my responsibility.”
Huub: “It was against a European rule. I just want to get rid of that. And madam did it anyway.”
Cora: “I have complied with all European rules, also in the Netherlands.”
Hostess Welmoed Sijtsma: “But we have now invited Mrs Van Nieuwenhuizen for something different.”
