Ynap launches Mr Porter Resell

Online fashion retailer Yoox Net-a-Porter Group (Ynap) takes the next step in its resale strategy with the launch of Mr. Porter ‘Resell’.

At the same time, the resale activities of the women’s fashion platform Net-a-Porter will be expanded to three new markets. The Outnet will also have a resale segment from April, parent company Yoox Net-a-Porter announced on Friday.

Mr Porter follows in the footsteps of women’s fashion platform Net-a-Porter, which launched a resale platform last year. After a test phase in the UK in 2021, the markets in Hong Kong, Germany and the USA are now to follow. Mr Porter Resell will be launched in the same four markets.

Mr Porter Resell is thus one of the first men’s luxury fashion suppliers to dare to take the step towards resale – “a segment that has not been adequately served in the past, despite the increasing conscious shopping behavior of men,” according to the company. “Mr Porter Resell’s support of the shift towards a circular fashion system for menswear is an exciting and crucial next step in our journey,” said Alison Loehnis, President of Luxury & Fashion at Net-a-Porter, The Outnet and Mr Porter.

The Outnet, another online platform of the group, will also offer a resell offer for both women’s and men’s fashion from April. This supports The Outnet’s original mission of “redefining last season’s discount model for luxury fashion”.

According to Ynap, the resell format resonates particularly well with Millennial and Gen Z customers – more than half of resale customers are in this age category.

For the resell offering, Ynap is partnering with Reflaunt, a company that specializes in making the second-hand clothing buying experience as seamless as possible through technology. This includes services such as collection and delivery services, digital authentication of products, price suggestions and professional photography.

Net-a-Porter, Mr Porter and The Outnet’s resell services contribute to Ynap’s quest to “unlock re-commerce”. This objective is one of twelve points of a sustainability strategy to be implemented by 2030.
