In the trial for the murder of Jahse Onfroy, better known as the rapper XXXTentacion, the jury in Fort Lauderdale, Florida yesterday (March 20) found the three accused guilty. Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome are charged with armed robbery and murder. They first stole $50,000 from the then 20-year-old on June 18, 2018 near a motorcycle shop and then shot him dead.

Another suspect, Robert Allen, had already confessed before the trial began and his statements made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the course of events. Accordingly, the four had not originally planned to attack Onfroy, but accidentally recognized him on the way to their actual goal. They made the decision to kill him spontaneously.

XXXTentacion had visited the store to purchase a motorcycle. After he left, the defendants blocked the path of his car. Boatwright and Newsome then attacked him and stole the bag full of money. The former then shot the rapper. Surveillance videos and mobile phone data support this representation.

The final pleadings were held on March 8th, after which the jurors deliberated. On April 6, the verdicts are to be read and the penalties determined. The trio could get life sentences

During the trial, the attorney for the accused Williams attempted to summon rapper Drake as a witness, probably to slow things down. The initiative goes back to an old Instagram post by the dead man, who accused the Canadian of using his music. He also wrote “If I should die, it was Drake”. However, the judges present did not react to this attempt.
