The hype surrounding the film adaptation of Jenny Han’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” books was huge. The story was filmed in three parts by Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky in 2018. All three films became real Netflix hits. In 2022, the author’s other book series, “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, was adapted into a film and enjoyed even greater success on the streaming service Amazon. The third season reached over 70 million viewers worldwide in the first 70 days.
XO Kitty: The spin-off to the “To All the Boys” world
Around the “To All the Boys…” film adaptations, Netflix finally expanded the universe with the series “XO Kitty”. The main character is Lara’s younger sister Kitty Covey. Actress Anna Cathcart once again took on the role she already had in the young adult films.
In the series, the younger sister attends the same elite Korean boarding school where her late mother once studied. There she encounters drama, boys and new friendships.
Third and final season: Kitty’s senior year
Now the third and final season of the spin-off returns. Kitty goes back to KISS for her senior year. She would like to spend unforgettable time there with her friends and get to know her family and Korea further. Love also plays a role again – so she has to clarify her complicated relationship with Min Ho.
Lana Condor returns as Lara Jean
“XO Kitty” fans can look forward to a special guest appearance in the third season. After Noah Centineo returned to the “To All the Boys…” world as Peter Kavinsky in the second season, Lana Condor, the actress who plays Lara Jean, now also has a part in the spin-off. This has been the wish of many fans since the start of the series – after all, Lara Jean was the protagonist of the original book and film series. In the third season, this wish finally becomes reality.
The actress will take on the role of big sister again and will visit Kitty in Seoul and offer her support.
Lana Condor was really looking forward to her cameo in the final season. Her comeback was kept secret for a long time – even the script for the series used a different name for her. She explained that it was difficult for her not to reveal her appearance. She also said how nice it was for her to play again with Anna Cathcart, who she has known since she took on the role of Kitty at the age of 15.
