It’s been four long years since Olivia Rodrigo last released an album – but the wait is over OR3 has an end. You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love, her third studio album, will be released on June 12th.
Particularly noticeable: The title does not consist of four letters, as many fans expected after their debut “Sour” (2021) and “Guts” (2022). “I’m so proud of this album and can’t wait for you to hear it,” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram. The album is available to pre-order now.
The announcement comes after months of hints of new music – most recently via a cryptic hotline message that alluded to this year’s Rose Moon, which occurred on April 2nd. “Trust your intuition,” it said. “Expect true clarity and renewal shortly after the Rose Moon. Until then, follow the stars, your guides and your heart, knowing that the best is yet to come.”
Rodrigo’s current projects
Most recently, Rodrigo covered Magnetic Fields’ “The Book of Love” for “HELP(2)”, a compilation album in aid of the charity War Child UK – alongside Arctic Monkeys, Cameron Winter, Depeche Mode, Wet Leg and others.
In December 2025 she released Live at Glastonbury (A BBC Recording), a double album that captured her impressive festival year. A month later, she celebrated the fifth anniversary of her breakthrough hit “Drivers License” with a new cover of the song – featuring her Governors Ball pal David Byrne.
“Sad Love Songs” on OR3
In an interview with British Vogue in March 2026, Rodrigo revealed that the new album contains “sad love songs” and hinted at a longing in the material. “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,” she said. Rodrigo has always mastered this in her own music – think Sour’s “Happier” or Guts’ “Pretty Isn’t Pretty” – so OR3 will probably have some of those in store.
Reunion with producer Dan Nigro
Last month, Nigro posted an Instagram photo of himself and Rodrigo on a sofa with the comment, “Finishing records.” Rodrigo responded humorously: “the palpable stress in this photo hahahha” – a clear indication that they worked together on the new album. Nigro, who also produces Chappell Roan, was previously responsible for “Sour” and “Guts,” so his return for OR3 comes as no surprise to anyone.
