The world number one Aryna Sabalenka beat the American Coco Gauff 7:6, 6:2 in the last group game of the WTA Finals in Riyadh and thus reached the semi-finals. There she meets Amanda Anisimova.
The world number one Aryna Sabalenka had difficulties at the beginning of the game against the strong Gauff. The American was the more stable, confident player who repeatedly managed to put Sabalenka on the defensive and took a 5-3 lead in the first set. Sabalenka was visibly annoyed by her mistakes. But then the Belarusian managed to turn things around, reduced her mistakes and won the tiebreak 7:5.
In the second set, Sabalenka dominated the game and hardly gave her opponent a chance. Gauff wobbled on her serves and often lost her balance. In the end, the number one won confidently and secured their place in the semi-finals as group winners.
Semi-final games on Saturday
