Day seven of the World University Games gave the German team a medal. The volleyball players are disappointed.

In athletics, several decisions were made on the seventh competition of the World University Games on the Rhine and Ruhr – with a success from a German perspective. Merlin Hummel won the silver medal in hammer throwing. At 77.04 meters, the 24-year-old from the international university only had to admit to the Ukrainian Mykhaailo Kokhan, who came to 77.10 meters. The Italian Giorgio Olivieri won bronze with 73.78 meters.

The further decisions were made on the career of the new Lohrheide stadium in Wattenscheid. The Kenyan Brian Muange Musau triumphed over the 10,000 meters in 28 minutes and 42.30 seconds before the British David Steven Mullarkey (28: 43.44) and the Spaniard Mario Priego Montero (28: 45.02). Gold over 400 meters hurdles went to Berke Ackam from Turkey (49.29 seconds) in front of the American Ryan Matulonis (49.38 seconds) and the Slovak Patrik Domotor (49.45 seconds).

Over 400 meters of sprint, the men of the South Africans Lythe Tyresse Pillay won in 44.84 seconds, ahead of Patrik Simon Enelyingi (Hungary, 45.41 seconds) and Edoardo Scotti (Italy, 45.61 seconds). In the women, Barbora Malikova (Czech Republic, 51.52 seconds) won ahead of Veronika Drljacic (Croatia, 51.66 seconds) and Alessandra Bonora (Italy, 52.41 seconds).

Volleyball players miss bronze medal

The German volleyball players had a disappointment on Wednesday in the game around the bronze medal. The team of coach Konstantin Bitter lost in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin in an exciting game with 1: 3 sets (23:25, 25:21, 15:25, 23:25).

After two mostly balanced first sentences, each of which a team was able to win with 25:23, sentence three became the sticking point. The German team completely slept down the start and was quickly in the back of two. In the end, Brazil got the passage without difficulty with 25:15. In set four, Germany got off to a better start, but Brazil fought back. It remained tight until the end. In the decisive phase, however, Brazil then had the longer breath, got the set with 25:23 and thus also the bronze medal.

Gold secured Italy through a 3-1 win in the final against Japan (25:19, 21:25, 25:16, 25:14).

Bronze medals in judo and taekwondo

In contrast, precious metal for Germany was in judo and Taekwondo. In Judo, Helen Habib from the University of Cologne won the bronze medal in the weight class up to 48 kilograms. In the exhibition hall in Essen, the 20-year-old won the fight for bronze against Zilan Etrem from Turkey.

The German mixed team also bronze in the Taekwondo. Laura Goebel, Kaan Gumus, Jona Pörsch and Supharada Kisskalt in the semi -finals lost 0-2 to the team from Uzbekistan. There is no duel for third place – the second bronze medal went to Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan finally secured the gold medal in the final with a 2-1 win against Egypt.

USA dominates Swimming competitions

27 medals were awarded in nine swimming competitions in Berlin on Wednesday. A whopping 13 of them – almost half – went to the USA. Team USA won the 4x100m relay in both men and women. Gold also won Maxine Parker over 50 meters freestyle, Tess Howley over 200 meters butterfly, Matthew King over 50 freestyle, Emma Weber over 100 meters of chest and Daniel Diehl left 200 meters back.

Only the Japanese Takumi Mori over 400 meters and the Portuguese Francisca Soares Martin’s over 400 meter freestyle prevented other American gold medals.

Solve German basketball players Semi-final ticket

The German basketball players are in the semi -finals of the World University Games. The team of the Australian coach Alan Ibrahimagic celebrated a safe 78:62 victory over Romania on Wednesday in the Ischelandhalle in Hagen. The best thrower was Michael Rataj from Baylor University in the USA with 27 points. Nicholas carpenter from Fernuni Hagen contributed 13 points to victory.

Germany now meets Brazil in the semi -finals on Thursday.

Team USA is also in the semi -finals, which Finland left no chance at 102: 83. Obi Agbim was the best thrower of the game with 23 points, followed by Cameron Carr with 21 points.

The next opponent in the United States is in the semi -finals on Thursday Lithuania.

Two decisions in table tennis

In the table tennis competition, the decisions in the double competition were made. Baldwin Cahn and to Kwan Yo from Hong Kong in the final won 4: 1 sets against Shunsuke Okano and Yuma Tanigaki from Japan. In the women’s celebration and Wang Xiaotong won the purely Chinese final against Yiyung Yang and Shang Zhao 4-0.
