The French swimming star Léon Marchand broke the 14 -year -old world record over 200 meters on Wednesday (July 30th, 2025) – it wasn’t even the final of the medals.
The 23-year-old struck the World Championships in Singapore in the semi-finals after 1: 52.69 minutes. He was 1.31 seconds faster than the American Ryan Lochte at his old record in 2011.
Four gold at Olmpia
Marchand had won four gold and bronze at the Olympic Games last year. He was one of the great stars of Paris’s games. His mythical time over the 200 meters layers is the first world record at the swimming World Cup in Singapore.
