World record in shot put not recognized

The world athletics association World Athletics has not recognized the alleged new indoor world record of two-time Olympic champion Ryan Crouser (USA).

An examination of the competition site found “that the ring was larger than allowed,” according to a statement. In addition, the slope of the landing surface of the bullet was greater than permissible.

In mid-February, an attempt by the 30-year-old at the Simplot Games in Idaho was measured at 23.38 m.

Crouser would have improved his own world record of 23.37 m from the summer of 2021 by one centimeter. The gold medalist at the Rio and Tokyo Games still holds the indoor world record with 22.82 m from 2021.
