Slovakia can still hope for a final against the German national soccer team for a direct World Cup ticket.

Coach Francesco Calzona’s team won their home game against Luxembourg 2-0 (0-0) on Monday, with the goals scored by Adam Obert (55th) and Ivan Schranz (72nd). Before the last two matchdays, Slovakia is second in Group A, level on points with leaders Germany (both 9).

Slovakia dreams of the final for first place

Slovakia, who surprisingly beat the DFB team 2-0 at the start, recently suffered their first defeat in a 2-0 defeat in Northern Ireland.

If Slovakia (at home against the Northern Irish) and Germany (in Luxembourg) win their penultimate games on November 14th, they will play the group winners in Leipzig three days later. Based on the direct comparison, a draw would be enough for Slovakia.
