Ski crosser Florian Wilmsmann took second place at the World Cup in Nakiska, Canada.
On his 28th birthday, the vice world champion from Upper Bavaria only had to admit defeat to Jonas Lenherr from Switzerland on Sunday (January 21, 2024).
Wilmsmann celebrated his second podium this season and the tenth of his career. In the final he led until just before the finish before he was overtaken by Lenherr.
Holzmann is in eighth place
In the women’s category, Johanna Holzmann made it to the small final and ended up in eighth place. The victory went to the Canadian local hero Hannah Schmidt.
Longer break for Daniela Maier
Meanwhile, ski crosser Daniela Maier has to take a break due to an injury. The Olympic bronze medalist from Urach suffered a syndesmosis tear in her right foot last weekend and is out for the time being.
Maier took her first World Cup victory in Val Thorens, France, at the beginning of December. Last March, Maier also had to go under the knife; her season was over early due to an operation on her left knee.
