A special World Cup race is scheduled for the cross-country skiers on Wednesday. Victoria Carl, Laura Gimmler and Co. are fighting for important points on a festival site in the middle of Tallinn.

After the premiere in 2023, the cross-country skiers will return to Tallinn on Wednesday (March 19, 2025, from 6 p.m. in the Sportschau-Ticker): Victoria Carl, Laura Gimmler and Co. are fighting for victory on a festival site in the Estonian capital in the Estonian capital.

The area is actually known for its big cultural events. The largest open -air concerts in the region and the traditional song festival take place on the site. On Wednesday, however, the cross-country elite takes over the show. The women and men fight for victory and important world crop points in a sprint race. “The location offers perfect conditions for a city sprint – and we want to contribute to a great show with strong performances”said coach Michael Bonfert.

Sofie Krahle sprinted behind Jasmina Kahara last year.

Overall World Cup – Carl wants to defend second place

Carl in particular wants to score more points in Estonia – after all, the 29 -year -old has to defend her second place in the overall World Cup. The large ball, on the other hand, is already out of reach. The dominant American Jessie Diggins is over 400 points ahead of Carl – and can hardly be obtained anymore.

For Helen Hoffmann, too, it is about taking valuable counters in the sprint so that she can claim her U23 jersey until the end of the season.

The race is important for the sprinters Coletta Rydzek and Laura Gimmler with a view to the sprint rating. Gimmler is currently in fifth place, Rydzek on seven. Because there are currently just over a hundred points between second place and seventh place, the two DSV starters still have the best chances of the top three.

Laura Gimmler has bad memories of Tallinn

However, Laura Gimmler starts with mixed feelings – after the premiere in Tallin in 2023, she is not one of the fans of the venue: “I don’t have the best memories at the World Cup in Tallinn. The race was extremely hectic at the time”according to the 31-year-old. “This time, however, I want to do better, grow beyond myself and collect as many points as possible.”
