The German water polo players managed their first victory in the fourth game at the World Championships in Hungary. After three defeats in the group phase, the team coached by national coach Petar Porobic defeated Brazil 10:9 (2:2, 2:3, 3:3, 3:1) in Szeged.
Thanks to the win, Germany will play against Kazakhstan for 13th place in the placement round on Wednesday. Lukas Küppers and Denis Strelezkij, each with three goals, were the top scorers for the selection of the German Swimming Association.
The German selection had previously lost to Japan, Croatia and Greece. The team is in transition. At the World Cup there are nine players in the German squad of 13 who have never been to a World Cup or European Championship.
