Robin Gosens strengthens the Erste team of experts at the World Cup. The 31-year-old has experience from 24 international matches.
A few weeks before the start of the World Cup, ARD has hired another expert. Former national player Robin Gosens will be used during the tournament, as the TV station announced. The 31-year-old has played 24 international matches for the DFB and last played in the Nations League semi-finals in June 2025.
As an expert, Gosens will alternately present the broadcasts from the World Cup studio in Cologne together with Lea Wagner and Malte Völz and analyze the games. The TV stations are increasingly relying on former players and coaches at the World Cup. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Almuth Schult are among those appearing for ARD.
“With Robin we have gained an intelligent, experienced and active player who will greatly enrich our World Cup broadcasts,” commented ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky, according to the statement. Gosens said: “Of course it was my big dream to be on the pitch for Germany at the World Cup in the USA. Now being able to be there as an expert for ARD is the best way for me to still be able to follow the tournament.”
Gosens, who is still under contract with AC Florence in the Italian league, already works for ARD. The podcast “How are you?” is available in the audio app ARD Sounds.
