The biathlon season 2025/26 begins in Osterensund, Swedish in less than two months. In addition to the French, the Norwegians also announced a first part of their contingent at the weekend. Ingrid Landmark Tangrevold is there even though she did not meet the qualification criteria.

Despite her unmistakable shape weakness and disappointing pre-season, the four-time world champion Ingrid Landmark Tangrevold will be part of the Norwegian contingent, which will start in a few weeks at the biathlon season start in the Swedish Östersund. The Norwegian association announced this on the weekend.

The 29-year-old Teldrevold has not fulfilled the internally stipulated qualification criteria, but gets her start ticket to the past due to her “extraordinary results”, as the association announced.

Tandrevold just can’t get going

In order to qualify for the World Cup start, the Norwegian biathletes actually have to meet one of two conditions. Automatically there are runners who landed in the top 15 of the overall World Cup last year and the athletes who ran into the top 6 at the World Cup in Lenzerheide in one of the individual races. Tangrevold had not met any of the conditions last year.

The four-time world champion had to undergo heart surgery at the beginning of the previous season. Then she returned to the World Cup, but only in her surprising sprint victory in Nove Mesto she ran into the top 10. Her result crisis continued in summer, where she was regularly left behind in the preparatory races and was by far the weakest woman from the Norwegian team.

These biathlon stars fight for the last tickets

In addition to Tankrevold, the Norwegian women’s team is formed in Östersund by Karoline Knotten and Maren Kirkeeide. The men’s team consists of Sturla Holm Lægreid, Vebjørn Sørum, Endre Strømsheim and Martin Uldal.

The last three free places will be awarded in Geilo at the so -called Sesong start on November 15th and 16th. Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Isak Leknes Frey, Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen, Sivert Guttorm Bakken, Sverre Dahlen Aspenes and Johan Olav Botn hope for men, Ida Lien, Ragnhild Femsteinevik, Gro Randby, Karoline Erdal, Marthe Kråkstad Johansen, Emilie Aagheim Kalkenberg and Marit Øygard among women.
