Mexico City will be the scene of the first match of the tournament, the final at the Metlife Stadium in New York on 19 July. It will also be played in Canada

FIFA, through president Gianni Infantino, has announced the stadiums involved in the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in Mexico, the USA and Canada. The tournament, which will be played with the new 48-team format, will have the Azteca as the stage for the opening match. The stadium, already historic for having hosted the “Match of the Century” Italy-West Germany 4-3 in 1970, will become the first structure ever to host a World Cup match three times, after the editions of 1970 and 1986.

The grand final will be played at the Metlife Stadium in New York, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026. The final for third and fourth place will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
