It is already the ninth time that the paracycling takes place in Ostend. And it is gaining popularity every year.
Wim Decleir from organizer Isomundo vzw: “2015, 2016, 2017, I think, I think, about twenty countries. Now, last year, we are 58, now at 44 after a Paralympic year. But we are very satisfied with the growth we know.” – Did that experience here in Ostend ensure that you can organize the World Cup soon? “Yes, that certainly played a role. That played a role in the decision of the UCI and also in our decision to organize everything in Ronse.”
World Champion Vromant is now aiming for that first World Cup in Belgium ever. “This was not really the highlight of the year, but that should be the World Cup in Ronse. I really like the time trial course. I became world champion last year, so I would definitely want to become world champions in Ronse.”
The Paracycling World Cup will continue tomorrow and Sunday, not in Ostend but for the first time in Bruges.
